We are part of a growing grassroots movement inspired by Douglas Tallamy’s Homegrown National Park initiative — a nationwide call to action urging individuals to restore biodiversity by planting native species in the spaces they control: backyards, schoolyards, parks, and even patios.
As urban development rapidly replaces natural landscapes, the ecosystems that once supported birds, pollinators, and other wildlife are disappearing. Tallamy’s message is clear: we don’t have to wait for government action — we can start rebuilding these habitats ourselves, right now.
Our mission is to bring that vision to life locally by educating and empowering our community to turn lawns and unused green spaces into thriving habitats for insects, birds, and native plants. These small efforts, multiplied across neighborhoods, can form a connected network of restored ecosystems — a "Homegrown National Park."
Together, we aim to reverse habitat loss, support biodiversity, and reconnect people with the natural world — starting at home.
